*"Lumitoads look harmless until they decide otherwise. I've found the same thing is true of most companions worth keeping."* — **Acantha the Silver Blade** --- # Kindred Spirits ## *best friends come with teeth and talons* Your Lorebound is your closest companion and sometimes, your last lifeline. Summoned through an ancient Fell sigil etched in light, a Lorebound fights with you, for you, and sometimes in spite of you. Each one is a creature of spirit and instinct, bound by fate to your rising legend. Lorebounds are not weapons or armor. They are something deeper: an extension of your will. They grow as you grow. They change as you change. And how you treat them shapes what they become. #### ✦Summoning Your Lorebound When summoned, your Lorebound appears through a surge of energy at your side. It follows you until dismissed, downed, or destroyed. Lorebounds always begin as familiars, small mystical allies that move with their Fell and offer subtle aid. As the bond deepens, they evolve — first into companions, stalwart partners capable of fighting, imprinting loot, and acting on their Fell’s behalf, and eventually into corsairs, mighty war-beasts that can be mounted to carry their Fell across the battlefield. At levels 4 and 8, a lorebound will transmogrify, shifting into its next form. Each Lorebound brings unique passive abilities, empowering you in ways no blade or armor could. They can evolve across three powerful forms: * Familiar – Can move, pick up, or use items. Their Mobility is equal to your Mobility. * Companion – Gains the ability to imprint loot and attempt skill rolls (such as breaking free of afflictions) on your behalf. Their Mobility is equal to your Mobility. * Corsair – A mountable form that can use their Mobility to carry you across the battlefield as long as your in an adjacent space to them. Their Mobility is equal to double your Mobility. #### ✦How Lorebounds Act * 1 Action per Turn: A Lorebound can act during the Lorebound phase. * Movement or Utility Only: Their actions are limited to movement, picking up items, using items, or skill/free actions. * No Direct Attacks: Lorebounds do not perform standard or ability-based attacks. #### ✦Charging Lorebound Abilities Lorebound abilities are passive, but they still require charges, similar to your armor effects. Each time your weapon gains a charge, your Lorebound charges alongside it. When you unleash your Tier 3 weapon ability, all charges reset (for both you and your Lorebound). In other words: No charges = no Lorebound abilities. Fight together. Fall together. ![[rememberlorebounds.png]] ## Your Path Forward Each time you level one of your core attributes, your Lorebound grows beside you. You can: * Unlock [[Aspects]] * Gain [[Lorebound Abilities]] * Evolve its Form — from Familiar to Companion to Corsair The rest of this chapter will walk you through how Lorebounds level, how their roles shift, and how their bond with you deepens over time. This is where your legend finds its reflection. Let’s begin. #### ✦Leveling Lorebounds Lorebounds level automatically when you increase one of your core attributes — Vigor or Wit — by spending an Ascension Crystal during a rest. Each time you do, your Lorebound grows stronger: unlocking new Aspects, gaining powerful abilities, and evolving into new forms. Your Lorebound’s growth is tied to your journey. As you rise, so too does your closest ally. | LEVEL | REWARD | | ----- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | 1 | Choose a lorebound in its Familiar form.<br>After assigning your Ascension Crystal, increase any other main attribute by 1.<br>Chooes an initial low-range Aspect. | | 2 | Your lorebound gains the Utilize Tier 1 ability. | | 3 | After assigning your Ascension Crystal, increase any other main attribute by 1. | | 4 | Unlock your lorebound's 2nd Aspect slot and choose a low-range Aspect. | | 5 | After assigning your Ascension Crystal, increase any other main attribute by 1. | | 6 | Transmogrify your lorebound to its Companion form.<br>Your lorebound gains its Tier 2 ability. | | 7 | After assigning your Ascension Crystal, increase any main attribute by 1. | | 8 | Unlock your lorebound's 3rd Aspect slot and choose a high-range Aspect. | | 9 | After assigning your Ascension Crystal, increase any main attribute by 1. | | 10 | Transmogrify your lorebound to its Corsair form.<br>Your lorebound gains its Tier 3 ability. | **Note:** Your Lorebound can only transmogrify to their next form: Familiar » Companion » Corsair. They can never skip a form (a familiar could never jump straight to corsair). ## The Lorebounds * [[The Aerostrix]] * [[The Alkagoo]] * [[The Aquafin]] * [[The Boreal]] * [[The Cawmarch]] * [[The Drakelith]] * [[The Felionis]] * [[The Grimgrit]] * [[The Hexarach]] * [[The Lumitoad]] * [[The Mordel]] * [[The Runesteed]] * [[The Slipfang]] * [[The Solmera]] * [[The Thistlewing]] * [[The Vixel]] * [[The Worgar]] * [[The Xenophis]] * [[The Unwritten|The Unwritten]]
